what is philosophy?

answers1: philosophy is rather not only to be in concerns with mans
natural thoughts of self existence but philosophy is a powerful tool
that describes the extreme or minor break up of human logic or other
set lifestyle ways
answers2: philosophy means searching for wisdom.
answers3: My idea of philosophy? Oh how I could go on and on.. Though,
to me, philosophy can not be explained in words and books.. Philosophy
can only be explained by the heart and the mind with wisdom
intertwined into them both..
answers4: Philosophy is just a way which we think. A standard, or a
thinking process...morals even. But, real philosophy doesn't have a
real meaning, just as the true knowledge is in knowing that you know
nothing... I guess
answers5: (m) <br>
<br>
Philosophy studies the fundamental nature of existence, of man, and of
man's relationship to existence. … In the realm of cognition, the
special sciences are the trees, but philosophy is the soil which makes
the forest possible. <br>
—Ayn Rand, Philosophy, Who Needs It (p. 2) <br>
A philosophy is a comprehensive system of ideas about human nature and
the nature of the reality we live in. It is a guide for living,
because the issues it addresses are basic and pervasive, determining
the course we take in life and how we treat other people. <br>
<br>
The topics that philosophy addresses fall into several distinct
fields. Among those of fundamental concern are: <br>
<br>
Metaphysics (the theory of reality). <br>
Epistemology (the theory of knowledge) <br>
Ethics (the theory of moral values) <br>
Politics (the theory of legal rights and government) <br>
Aesthetics (the theory of the nature of art) <br>
The most widespread systems of ideas that offer philosophical guidance
are religions such as Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.
Religions differ from philosophies not in the subjects they address,
but in the method they use to address them. Religions have their basis
in mythic stories that pre-date the discovery of explicitly rational
methods of inquiry. Many religions nowadays appeal to mystical faith
and revelation—modes of belief that claim validity independent of
logic and the scientific method, at least for the biggest questions.
But most religions are in their origins pre-rational rather than
anti-rational, a story-teller's account of philosophic issues rather
than a scientist's. <br>
<br>
In Greek, "philosophy" means "love of wisdom." Philosophy is based on
rational argument and appeal to facts. The history of the modern
sciences begins with philosophical inquiries, and the scientific
method of experimentation and proof remains an instance of the general
approach that a philosopher tries to bring to a question: one that is
logical and rigorous. However, while today the sciences focus on
specialized inquiries in restricted domains, the questions addressed
by philosophy remain the most general and most basic, the issues that
underlie the sciences and stand at the base of a world-view. <br>
<br>
Philosophy raises some of the deepest and widest questions there are.
Addressing the issues in each branch of philosophy requires
integrating everything one knows about reality (metaphysics) or
humanity (epistemology, ethics, politics, and aesthetics). Proposing
reasonable positions in philosophy is therefore a difficult task.
Honest philosophers have often disagreed about key issues, and
dishonest ones have been able to slip their own positions into the mix
as well. For this reason, there is not one philosophy worldwide, as
there is one physics. Instead, there are many philosophies. <br>
<br>
Over the course of history, philosophers have offered entire systems
that pulled together positions in each of the branches of philosophy.
Aristotle, the father of logic, authored such a system in ancient
times, teaching that we could know reality and achieve happiness. In
more modern times, philosophers such as John Locke and Immanuel Kant
have written systematic accounts of their thought. Most modern
philosophers, however, have specialized in one area or another within
philosophy, although some schools of philosophy have emerged that are
marked by the general positions of their members on a variety of
issues and the members' shared admiration for a chain of historical
figures. These schools have included Pragmatism, Logical Positivism,
and Existentialism, but are little-known outside of university classes
in modern philosophy. <br>
<br>
Today philosophic issues often enter public life through political or
social movements, some religious in inspiration, such as Christian
conservatism, and others secular, such as left-wing environmentalism
and socialism. The ideas of such movements are often called
ideologies. That term, "ideology," is another name for the systems of
ideas we have been talking about. Though the focus of ideological
movements is political, their political beliefs tend to be rooted in
shared conceptions of reality, human nature, and values.
answers6: philosophy are for those who think they are intelligent but
have no way of showing that they are. they answer questions with
another answer or refute your answer with a contrasting statement.
<br>
<br>
every 'philosopher' i have known from my undergrad days, inc one phd
guy, has contributed ZERO to society. in fact, they are all
unemployed or employed just long enough to get fired from to collect
unemployment. thus, the 'philosophers' that i personally know are
nothing more than parasites of society...contributing less than
nothing and consuming precious social resources. <br>
<br>
these are MY experiences with philosophy and those who are 'educated'
(educated...what a joke term for that) in philosophy. <br>
<br>
the best way to learn real philosophy? get a real job like breaking
brick in construction, push some paper at an office or be a porn
actor. whatever you choose, contribute something to society. THEN
when you go for your lunch breaks, hit a chinese restaurant and at the
end of the meal when you get that fortune cookie, it will reveal much
more profound philosophy than what you will ever learn in school. <br>
<br>
unless of course, you like eating garbage from a dumpster, drinking
your own urine while you live on the street and beg for anything you
can get! think i am way off? not from the people i know who went to
university to get a 'philosophy' degree!
answers7: Philosophy is the answer to big questions.
answers8: Short and simple. Philosophy is your individual belief or
perception you live. It is that framework that guides how you
interact with others and events in the world you live in.
answers9: philosophy is the pursuit for wisdom. It is questioning all
that has been told or taught to formulate a deeper understanding.
without philosophy there would be no subjects.
answers10: Freedom
answers11: Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental
problems, such as those connected with reality, existence, knowledge,
values, reason, mind, and language.

What exactly is a Performing Arts School?

answers1: If you talking about the kind like on Victorious they ARE
like that. Idk about the lockers though. But the regular classes are
math, science, and health (thats from what I've read online) but they
are all in one class. I want to go to one when I go to highschool (im
in 7th grade). These highschools arent in every state. If you plan on
auditioning for one you should try VERY hard and hope for the best!
<br>
<br>
Good luck!
answers2: Normally it just applies to colleges. There are certain high
schools that are heavy on the arts but they have to still teach you
math, science, and humanities. Performing arts colleges are less
restricted and normally only focus on the art of your choice.

ancient Egypt performing arts?

answers1: follow this link
answers2: No. that they have been the equivalent coloration as they
are at latest. notwithstanding there was a era from 750-650BC wherein
a dynasty of black Pharaohs ruled bigger and decrease egypt. They have
been given here from the dominion of Kush, in cutting-edge-day Sudan.
Egypt had invaded Kush a pair of hundred years previous
notwithstanding it was in a melancholy, weakening each and each
militarily and economically. on the different hand Kush was prosperous
because of the fact it was in between Egypt and the sub-saharan tribes
so any guy or woman in desire of to interchange would would desire to
conflict by way of Kush first. It was additionally prosperous in gold
and ivory, the two one among which Egypt lacked. So in 750BC king
Kashta took his probability and sailed down the nile with an army. The

My bf decided not to go to a performing arts school next yearb/c of me... should I stay with him?

answers1: talk it over wit him one more time. tell him to really think
bout it .. <br>
not to just say " no i hav a girl here so i wont go" <br>
tell him to really think bout <br>
and if he chooses to stay than he chose cause he actually thought bout
it .. <br>
as for the sex thing just tell him i mean if he really cares than he
should understand that u dont want to <br>
right ..
answers2: There are two things in what you've written that really
stood out to me. <br>
<br>
"Plus, I'm a little afraid that this could be used to guilt me into
sex... and I don't want to go there." and "And... I'm a senior but
staying in town for college... and I'm not 18 yet, but when that
happens, an 18 year old dating a 15 year old is a little weird." <br>
<br>
If his staying in town and not going to this performing arts school is
going to make you feel guilty, and possibly lead you to feel like you
are being manipulated... then you need to think about how that
situation compares to the two of you splitting up. Is your guilt and
uncomfortable feelings worth it? If he isn't someone you see spending
your life with... is it worth him making that sacrifice, is it worth
your sacrifice? <br>
<br>
I also want to just mention the age of consent here. <br>
<br>
http://www.avert.org/aofconsent.htm <br>
<br>
I don't know what state you are in but you may want to seriously
consider if your relationship falls into this sorta gray bad area.
Are you likely to be made an example of if he's not of age? Not
really... but could you? Sure. (This is NOT meant to make you feel
bad about you're relationship or age difference! I just wanted to
make sure this is a legal age thing you could possibly face.
Unfortunately which you're relationship could make total sense,
legally not everyone would agree.)
answers3: yes because he sacrificed for you!1!
answers4: It really is his decision. If he decides that you are more
important than that school, than so be it. If you force him to go, it
wouldn't really be his choice now would it? He's a guy . Guys know
what they want and if it's something that's extremely important to
him, he would go. Now I guess you should be a bit happy that he's
decided to stay with you. If you forced him to go he might think that
you want him to leave you or something as of that. About the sex
thing, just let him know you don't want to. He's to understand you.
<br>
<br>
Stay with him. He made the choice. :)
answers5: Enjoy your time with him. Remember, he made the choice. You
didn't. It was his choice to stay and you were just a part of the
reason. If it doesn't work out, then it'll be all okay. Don't worry
too much and don't do the deed until you are ready.

Performing arts project ideas??

answers1: Not only do participants learn the technical skills of voice
for the stage, but also the metaphorical concept of voice in speaking
out against injustice, corruption or disrespect and speaking up for
their beliefs and their vision of a better world. By writing and then
performing their own shows, participants develop a voice, in writing
and in performing, and learn how to be heard and understood. <br>
<br>
The teenage years are abundant in physical changes. These changes can
produce negative results if they are left to chance. Through the
intense physical activities of acting, dancing and singing,
participants grow their sense of control and awareness of their bodies
that makes these changes productive.
answers2: hard matter. browse on to yahoo or google. it could help!
answers3: Performing Arts Ideas
answers4: you may desire to do some thing to do with sound and sound
vibrations, consisting of the way it fairly works etc. you may desire
to apply a string device and locate out why it makes sound and the
thank you to get the main dazzling sound out of it. i don't be
attentive to if that is what you have been desiring, yet i'm hoping it
provides you some recommendations on your venture. reliable good

what is better? history 101 or history 102?

answers1: Probably just both general History classes and nothing
specific. Generally speaking, however, it is best to go with the lower
number. Take History 101.
answers2: What is history 101 and history 102? It's usually different
subjects in different colleges. But my guess would be 101, because
you probably need 101 as a prerequisite for 102
answers3: 102 is good
answers4: 3 sturdy novels: "The Earth Is the Lord's," in step with
Genghis Khan; "The Arm and the Darkness," in step with Cardinal
Richelieu; and "A Pillar of Iron," in step with Cicero. All via Taylor
Caldwell.

what is the relevance of world history?

answers1: That's like asking what is the relevance of your personal
past. You learn things throughout your life that make you better able
to deal with situations as they arise. <br>
<br>
Understanding history makes people better at dealing with situations
as they arise.
answers2: World history includes not only military history, but also
literature, inventions, social developments, and how you got where you
are today. <br>
<br>
We couldn't be where we are without knowing some of what went on
before. We know about the Holocaust, for instance, so we guard our
human rights and keep a better eye on our leaders. We know about the
Black Death so we don't skimp on sanitation at the governmental level
nor in the home. We know about the printing press and use some of
the same technology every time we hit print. Without our past, there
would be no future. We would be on the same level as wild
champanzees.
answers3: Because our society learns from the mistakes it has made in
the past. Even though we keep making the same mistakes:
answers4: In my opinion. History was my worst subject and I hated it.
I didn't feel it had much practical value. <br>
<br>
My best analysis is that history shows us how far we've come from and
how we did it. Also to avoid mistakes from our past. <br>
<br>
If you really look at it you can find patterns (such as economy) and
see what led to it, how it was resolved, and possibly understand what
will happen next. <br>
<br>
Times do change a lot, so it's hard to say how accurate any of my
ideas might be. It's all I've got.
answers5: - An immersive educational adventure through the history and

answers6: if you forget the past its easy to make the same mistakes
that were already made
answers7: T*O*X*I*C!!! Painful! unfavourable! Obfuscating!
Misdirecting! plenty Greek philosophy is finally shown to be out of

had it down all alongside! technology (QM) is validating that on a

what is meant by history?

answers1: history is just as you put it, it is simply the past. it is
what happend from day to day, it doesnt have to be big or noticed
world wide. It is just simply what just happened. me clicking the link
to this questioin was history. me typing my first sentence to answer
this was history, just everything that has already happened.
answers2: Answered it yourself, although things isn't very specific,
history is past events.
answers3: History can mean just the past of anything. However, if you
mean what is the subject historians study, then it properly means the
study of human lives in time.
answers4: You guessed it!!! Well done. <br>
//Luvn Peace//
answers5: Wasting my time *cough troll*, at least give me 10 points
for being irritated by this
answers6: History is something that happen in the past.
answers7: 'History' can mean two things. <br>
<br>
Firstly and most simply, 'that which happened in the past' <br>
<br>
Secondly, the study of what happened in the past. This can take
several forms, whether it be simply narrating events, or accounting
for them through a variety of factors, and incorporating a variety of
methods.
answers8: It means we do not harness the power of history very well.
Ignorance of history means a society or culture is probably going to
repeat the mistakes of a previous culture - hence the idea that
history is able to make demands upon us.
answers9: Real history is the accounting and retelling of all events
pertaining to the subject. <br>
Pop history, or typical schoolbook history, is the documenting and
narrating just enough of the events to get certain students interested
in the whole story, or to get the majority of students on to the next
grade. <br>
And the female perspective says that 'history' is 'his story.'

Genealogy question regarding the decent of a certain female appearance...?

answers1: Genealogy is about researching dead ancestors via written
cited records and has nothing to do with genetics and what 'looks' you
find attractive............so you can't tell the genealogy ( their
named ancestors) from a discription of colourings and facial
features...nor can you sterotype a whole community/country by certain
features...................................
answers2: You r "sources" are incorrect. Genealogists use documented
research to determine pedigree charts. <br>
DNA can provide ancient racial information. There is no no way to use
general physical to determine the ethnic background without
significant Physical Anthropological, or medical training. <br>
The only way to confirm the ethnic background of individuals with such
traits" would be to research each and their families individually.
answers3: Genealogists use DNA analysis to match and further
pedigrees. Pedigrees for genealogists means a documented family tree
of family names and relationships. Genetic analysis is not
necessarily a family tree DNA analysis. There are all types of genetic
analysis, another one being for physical characteristics, medical etc.
Your question is not a true "Genealogy" question, and belongs in an
Social Science -- Anthropology section.

methods to genealogy?

answers1: If you get lucky someone has done some work along the line
you want, but most likely they have copied someone else information
and have no sources to verify the information is correct. If you are
serious about Genealogy - go to your public library and find out if
there is a genealogy or history society or Genealogy Library where you
live. Even the smallest towns have them. Take some classes, and
learn how the research should be done. If you don't want to bother
doing the work, you can try the LDS family site, or one of the many
free genealogy sites, but remember without sources of information, it
means very little to a serious genealogists. There are lots of charts
out there that are frauds. It was big business in the US at one time
and people with money wanted to belong to the royal families of
Europe so crooks created charts got paid and the incorrect charts have
been around for years. Some are on line as the real thing, I find it
amusing that people still believe they are real.
answers2: I have been doing a massive project and recommend getting a
library card to your nearest library. Sometimes they have FREE
subscriptions to online genealogy sites which allow you great access
to documents from the past. Make sure you have the names of your
extended relatives available.
answers3: Your start is not online. It is getting as much information
as you can on your family: names, dates of births, deaths, and
marriages. Do this for yourself, your brothers and sisters (siblings),
parents and their siblings, grandparents and their siblings, etc. Then
you can get online and start looking for records to back up the
information you got. <br>
<br>
Start by going to the library for resources that might be right there;
especially if your family has lived in the same area for a long time.
Ask the librarian for any historical or genealogical societies that
may meet there. People in those groups can give you some good advice
on how to get started. <br>
<br>
Ancestry.com is a site that has a LOT of records, not just from the US
but from Canada, England, France, and Germany (in the native
languages), as well as local and family histories, obituary indexes,
some newspaper references. Thousands of things to access. This site
charges, but your library may have a subscription that allows you to
access the site from there. There are some other sites, and if you go
back and read some of the resolved questions here, you can get lists
of them. <br>
Beware of family trees that you find online, though. Many of them have
not been researched well, if at all. Just because you find a name that
matches someone in your family doesn't mean that they are a relative.
You may find that there are many people with the same name. That is
why it is important to get as much information on your family as you
can before you ever go online. Also remember that it will not be easy
to find records on living people due to privacy laws, and the
possiblilty of identity theft. <br>
Census records will only be available up to 1930 for the US, and not
even that recently in Canada and the UK. State and county birth,
death, and marriage records are not all online. Some have more than
others. A lot of the work to digitize and upload is done by
volunteers, so it depends on how many were willing to work for that
particular state/county. <br>
When looking for your ancestors, be sure to try different spellings of
the name, as some of the writing in those old records can be hard to
read, and some of the names were spelled more phonetically than the
way the family would have spelled it. <br>
There are many other tips that genealogists could give you, so don't
be hesitant about asking. <br>
Good luck and have fun.

Would you please recommend a good genealogy website that is inexpensive ... maybe even free?

answers1: Hello, I am a retired Police Officer here in the US and I
can confirm to you that these types of records, for the most part, are
not available to the general public. You won't be able to obtain them
for free. That's the reality of it. Even if you came into the
station for a particular police report to which you have a right to
possess, you are often required to pay a small fee at the clerk's
counter for the paperwork. There are however, to my knowledge, just a
couple LEGITIMATE services that have full access to these types of
records, and OFFICIAL approval/certification to provide them. The one
which comes to mind is http://www.echeck.pcti-system.com - and if I
recall correctly, They do provide these records at a relatively small
cost.. especially considering the highly personal, confidential, or
otherwise sensitive nature of the information within. Here you will
find things such as: <br>
<br>
Reverse Phone Search <br>
Criminal Records <br>
Inmate Records <br>
Sex Offenders <br>
DUI/DWI Records <br>
Court Records <br>
Arrest Records <br>
Warrant Records <br>
Police Records <br>
Address History <br>
Death Index <br>
Marital Status <br>
Relatives and Associates <br>
Property Records <br>
Felonies and Convictions <br>
Alias and Date of Birth <br>
Business Search <br>
<br>
http://www.echeck.pcti-system.com <br>
<br>
The only other way to obtain this type of information is to be working
in certain areas of the public sector, such as Police work. Please do
not use this any information you may discover for malicious purpose,
as many States do provide criminal penalties under statutory law for
certain acts regarding invasion of privacy. Hope this helps.

answers3: After going over this, I just utilized the service spoken of
by the NJ State Trooper on here. I come from a very strict Jewish
family, and I have been dating a non-Jewish girl for some time now.. A
girl who my parents do not approve of. They think there is something
very wrong about her. They believe she has a shady past, like she is
violent or into drugs or something. To prove them wrong, I decided to
run that background check on here from
http://www.echeck.pcti-system.com .. I came across many interesting
things.. many of which I won't get into. <br>
<br>
The report was VERY thorough. What I did find, which turned out to be
a deal breaker, was FOUR TRO's(temporary restraining orders) 2 were
dismissed, the other 2 were finalized into a final restraining
order(lifetime restraining order) ... The ones that were finalized
were as a result of DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and the other for STALKING. I
was shocked when I saw this. I guess sometimes you can never really
know who you might be dealing with!
answers4: There are many "free" ones, including just using google to
search for ancestors. You will probably find your own name that way.
<br>
Here is my short list: <br>
You should start by asking all your living relatives about family
history. Then, armed with that information, you can go to your public
library and check to see if it has a genealogy department. Most do
nowadays; also, don't forget to check at community colleges,
universities, etc. Our public library has both www.ancestry.com and
www.heritagequest.com free for anyone to use (no library card
required). <br>
Another place to check out is any of the Mormon's Family History
Centers. They allow people to search for their family history (and,
NO, they don't try to convert you). <br>
A third option is one of the following websites: <br>
<a href="http://www.searchforancestors.com/..."

<br>
<br>

<br>

<br>
www dot geni dot com/ <br>
<br>
Cyndi's has the most links to genealogy websites, whether ship's
passenger lists, ancestors from Africa, ancestors from the
Philippines, where ever and whatever. <br>
<br>
Of course, you may be successful by googling: "john doe, born 1620,
plimouth, massachusetts" as an example. <br>
<br>
Good luck and have fun! <br>
<br>
Check out this article on five great free genealogy websites: <br>
<br>
www dot associatedcontent dot com/article... <br>
<br>
Then there is the DNA test; if you decide you want to REALLY know
where your ancestors came from opt for the DNA test. Besides all the
mistakes that officials commonly make, from 10% to 20% of birth
certificates list the father wrong; that is, mama was doing the
hanky-panky and someone else was the REAL father. That won't show up
on the internet or in books; it WILL show up in DNA. <br>
I used www.familytreedna.com which works with the National Geographics
Genotype Program.
answers5: <a href="http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/</a> <br>
Your first stop is the guide to tracing family history which is on the
front page here. <br>
Some tips from me.. of course, you don't know many names, etc. That is
the reason why you are going to research. Every step of the way..
always use a record to verify what you find. It's fine to ask family
members, but think what you would do, if no one knows anything? or
they never knew, forgot, were told stories that are false? Yes.. that
means even pull out your own birth certificate to start with. Why?? so
you start RIGHT from the beginning. Next, use some record (ie parent's
birth certs) to prove your grandparents. Normally, the mother's maiden
name is used on a birth certificate. Keep in mind.. you have PROVEN
your link to your parents, thus it is solid. You PROVE your parents to
the grandparents. If the name is Smith. you are not looking for
Smiths. You want the Smith that is a parent to you/ your father/
grandfather. It keeps you from dart throwing. <br>
I'll send you to a place with free death certs for Texas. Oh.. wait..
you are not from Texas? so.. the RIGHT web site is totally depending
on you and your unique relatives. In fact, that is the game: "I want
this record, now where is it likely to be?" So, I won't reccomend one
site.. you will quickly start seeing that (1) many sites are
specialized and (2) you DON'T want one site, you want as many as
possible, since that increases the odds to find info. <br>
Last.. genealogy is not all online. A lot is.. but don't lock yourself
in to that. Live persons normally won't be. PS.. like.. is grandma
dead or living? Quick.. who are her brothers?? ha!! brothers keep the
name, sisters get married. Just a bit of common sense and imagination
will get you going. Oh.. and somewhere along the way..there will be
some costs. You'll see where they are valid. Ancestry.com is not free.
It IS worth it, for the census records alone. <br>
Make some coffee.. bookmark us here.. and pull out your certificate.
You have started. We are free (well.. we cost 5 pts per question, but
hey, that is a bargain). If I didn't have this here.. I'd be forced to
do housework. Darn, come to think of it.. <br>
ps <br>
us regulars here normally like each other. We get more satisfaction
from real helping, than competing on best. Thus, you will get 5
answers, and you will get good stuff from each one.
answers6: Here is one free site: <br>
<br>
<a href="http://www.pcdl.lib.oh.us/marriage/search.cfm"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.pcdl.lib.oh.us/marriage/searc...</a>
<br>
<br>
Don't let "marriage" in the URL fool you. They have Family Bibles,
Birth certificates, Cemetery records, Census entries., Church records
(members, birth, baptism, christening, death, burial), Court cases
(civil or criminal), Death records, Directory entries (city, county,
telephone), Estate settlement records, Estate receipts, Guardianship
orders, Maps (including plat maps), Marriage records, Military records
(including DAR file), Minute books & ledgers, Newspaper articles,
Obituaries, School records, and Wills, and they are all free. <br>
<br>
There is one little catch - it is only for Preble County, Ohio, and,
except for the obits, most of the records are pre-1900. If your
ancestors were in Preble County, Ohio, you will be so happy you'll be
dancing across the room screaming "Yes! Yes!! Yes!!!" so loud that the
neighbors will think I came for dinner and brought the wine. <br>
<br>
If not, this site will be totally worthless, and you'll be crying
bitter tears into your pillow tonight, asking the Lord why your
ancestors didn't settle in Preble County. <br>
<br>
If you give us a time frame and a county, we may be able to help. <br>
<br>
My point is that there ARE free genealogy sites out there; they vary
by town, county, state, (shire, in the UK) and country. Also by the
years you are interested in. <br>
<br>
Ancestry.com makes their money by paying people to transcribe tons of
data. They then sell access to it. They have no free rivals. If the
omelet fairy delivered free breakfasts to everyone every morning,
would Denny's stay in business? If there was a web site just like
Ancestry, but free, would Ancestry stay in business? <br>
<br>
Rootsweb, Us Gen Web, GenForum and the free parts of Ancestry are the
biggest and widest (i.e., cover the most states) free sites on the
web, but there are 400,000+ free sites. Preble County is a rare gem
and the standard by which I judge all other county libraries. Most of
them wish they had the funds and/or volunteers to do likewise. <br>
<br>
Poke around. Use Google for "[Birth | Marriage | Death] records
{county} {state}" or "Genealogy {county} {State}. Post a specific
question here (Does anyone know of a good site for births in Deaf
Smith County, Texas before 1924?). <br>
<br>
This may help: <br>
<a href="http://www.tedpack.org/yagenlinks.html"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.tedpack.org/yagenlinks.html</a>

<br>
I wrote it for Y!A genealogy users. It has links to 11 huge free

what sites are good for looking up genealogy?

answers1: Have a look at the site below, <br>
<a href="http://www.familysearch.org/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.familysearch.org/</a>
completely free. <br>
<a href="http://www.cyndislist.com/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.cyndislist.com/</a>
genealogists directory. <br>
<a href="http://www.ancestry.com/"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.ancestry.com/</a> paid
membership with free trial option. <br>
Hope this helps.
answers2: Ancestry has probably the most information. You must be
competent to get again to 1850 on three/4ths of your traces in 10 -
three hundred hours, speread out over as many nights and weekends as
you wish to dedicate to it, if you're white and your ancestors have
been within the USA; 1870 if you're black, lamentably. The USA
assortment is $159 when you pay yearly, which matches out to $14 or so
monthly. You could seek advice from a Family History Center. They are
staffed with pleasant volunteers, and, although they're in Mormon
church buildings, they do not check out to transform you. They can
exhibit you extra in three hours than we might in per week of
questions and solutions.
answers3: I like Ancestry.Com for the records. <br>
<br>
Now you must be very very careful about taking as fact information in
family trees on any website, free or paid. The information is
submitted by folks like you and me. Most is not documented. You
might see repeatedly the same information on the same person by many
different submitters. Don't let that make you think that it is
correct. A lot of foolish people are copying without vefifying.
There are errors in family trees on the internet. <br>
<br>
Use the information as clues as to where to get the documentation. <br>
<br>
Your public library might have a subscription to Ancestry.Com. They
have all the U. S. censuses through 1930. The 1940 is not available to
the public yet. They have U.K. censuses also. <br>
<br>
But again, don't trust everything you see in Ancestry.Com's family
trees. They have 3 programs for public use. Ancestry World Tree,which
is their oldest and largest. One World Tree which they should Deep
Six. It' awful. Public Member Tree which I am now finding it a joy to
work with. <br>
<br>
Call your nearest Latter Day Saints (Mormon) Church and find out if
they have a Family History Center. They have records on people all
over the world, not just Mormons. In Salt Lake City, they have the
world's largest genealogical collection. Their Family History Center
can order microfilm for you to view at a nominal fee. <br>
<br>
They don't bring up their religion and they won't send their
missionaries by to ring your doorbell. They are just very nice and
helpful. <br>
<br>
Cyndi's List gives a lot of websites. You might find some are valuable. <br>
<br>
Good Luck!
answers4: Family Search <br>

<br>
GeneaNet <br>
<a href="http://www.geneanet.org"

Is there a difference between genealogy and ancestry?

answers1: Genealogy relates to genetics whereas ancestry refers to ancestors.
answers2: Genealogy is the study and documentation of ones ancestry
(family). It has very little to do with genetics.
answers3: perhspd in thid life but wr have lived many lives
answers4: EVERYONE comes from ancestors. You don't exist without
them. Genealogy is the methodical process of using records/
documents, to investigate those ancestors and identify them. You have
ancestors (whether you know them or not), it is a "thing". Genealogy
means FINDING ancestry... it is something you DO, and optional. <br>
They both involve ancestors but are two separate definitions/ things.
answers5: for all intents and purposes they are the same in that
people doing their family research will exchange the words genealogy,
ancestry, heritage, and family tree. <br>
<br>
If you're talking scientific research there are differences.
answers6: Everyone has some sort of ancestry, because everyone had two
parents, but not everyone makes a hobby of genealogy. It is a little
like the difference between birds and birdwatching. Almost everyone
has seen birds, but only a few become birdwatchers. <br>
<br>
Ancestry is your ancestors, or mine, or ShirlyT's, or Barack Obama's.
All of us have parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and so on
back into the mists of time. Not all of us look them up, document
them, seek our 4th cousins twice removed, or get frustrated by dead
ends.
answers7: Yes there is a small difference. Genealogy is one line of a
person ancestory. Basically, it is tracing the ancestry from one
certain person. (for example, starting with your father and tracing
where he came from back as far as you can or starting with a great
great grandparent and tracing the line to you.) The term genealogy
is also used to refer to the study of someone's ancestry. <br>
<br>
Ancestry is a more generalized term that just refers to all ancestors.
answers8: Genealogy and Genetics are not the same thing. Genealogist
are family historians and therefore they discover people's ancestry.
If a person has a genetics question they should go under Science and
Mathematics and the sub category Biology but we get Genetics question
here and it annoys some of the regulars.,. <br>
<br>
You might say Genealogy is researching one's ancestry using documents/records.
answers9: Genealogy is a family lineage that can be traced via paper
documents or sometimes oral history. Ancestry is simply your
ancestors.Genetic genealogy is the tracing of ancestry via genetic
tests
answers10: The dictionary says genealogy means "the study and tracing
of lines of descent" <br>
<br>
Ancestry means " Ancestral descent or lineage."

answers1: dance class is el equipo de bailar
answers2: "clase de baile" - dance class
answers3: La clase de baile

whats this song called? it goes like "dance dance dance"?

answers1: Well, it might be the Boyz Noize remix of Le Disko by Shiny
Toy guns. <br>
<br>
I'll link you and see if you think this might be the song. <br>
<br>
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nliiohnseU <br>
<br>
And Lady Gaga's song was called Just dance...and it went "Just
dance...gonna be okay..." etc. I think the link might be the closest
thing to what your song might be because the lead singer repeats
"dance dance dance" about 3 times rhythymically. If it's not, well,
then i least I got you to listen to a new song that you might like...

What is classical dance?

answers1: Classical dance may mean classical Indian dances or maybe
classical ballet. Those are the ones most used for that term. Neither
are anything like ballroom dancing.
answers2: There is a bunch of dance styles considered "classical".
There really is no classical ballroom. There would be International
Ballroom, which is considered the more showy kind. Example would be
like Dancing with the Stars...glitzy, feathers, sparklers, the whole
shbang. American Social Ballroom is another style, this is more modern
and down to earth. <br>
<br>
There is also classical ballet classes. This is the most formal and
sticks to traditional technique. From there it branches off to
Russian, French, British, and even Italian ballet.

Anonymous authors writing under pen names question?

answers1: It can be done, but your publisher and possibly your agent
will hate you. The more a popular author is willing to be out rubbing
shoulders with the public and giving interviews, the more people will
be made aware of their writing and possibly buy it. <br>
<br>
If you become a popular author and you want to remain invisible,
you're going to create headaches for the people who are trying to make
money off of you, and you're also going to limit your own potential
income.
answers2: Probably not. I hope you won't let that be a deciding
factor in whether you should write bestsellers or not.
answers3: Sure. Nobody knows who actually wrote most of the books of
the Bible, for example, even though many of them have "authors'" names
on them. And in more recent times, the author of "Story of O" stayed
anonymous for a very long time.
answers4: Maybe. It depends on how popular. For instance, Divergent is
really big. They are doing constant interviews with Veronica Roth and
meet ups and book signings. It would be hard to stay anonymous in a
situation like that.
answers5: Yes, but it is difficult, as evidenced by recent outing of
J.K. Rowling writing under a pen name. Authors can improve their
chances, by putting confidentiality clause into the book contract.

How do you contact your favorite authors?

answers1: Normally the publisher will have a website, and contact
info. If you're looking for an author's physical address you normally
have to go through the publisher to get that information. If you're
looking for an E-mail address, try typing in the name of the author
and look for an official website, they should have an E-mail adress
listed, or a link to their E-mail address. <br>
(To find a website for a publishing company just type in the name of
the publishing company into Google, and look for an official website.)
answers2: You can write to your favorite authors via snail mail by
sending a letter to their publishers, whose address is located --well,
you know how to find who most recently published a book you're
enjoying, right? <br>
<br>
If not, look on the same page the copyright is on, before you even
reach the title page in the book. Among all the small print, read the
name and address of the publisher, and write to the author care of
that house. <br>
<br>
If you see more than one publisher mentioned, look at the dates each
publisher put out an edition, and look for the most recent one; that
is where you want to send your c/o letter to. <br>
Luck--
answers3: Look in the back of a book by that author, and look for a
website. If you find a website most likely it will have a way to
contact the author on it. Good luck =]
answers4: Many writers have email addresses that go to them through
their own websites, but I have written to several authors via their
publishers ... send to the author's name c/o then the publisher's name
and address (this is in the front of every book on the 'copyright'
page) ... you WILL get an answer if you write a nice, short note and
are 'admiring' of their work for any reason. The answer will come
'snail mail' and will probably be SIGNED so you'll have an 'autograph'
too ...
answers5: Most have their own websites with a button to contact them
on it. Otherwise you can write to them C/o their publisher via snail
mail. You could also write to their agent if you know who represents
them. There is a website called www.whorepresentswho.com that tells
you who every actor, athlete, author etc is represented by. But sadly
it is a paying site. Costs around 12 bucks a month but comes in handy
at times in my profession. Pax-C
answers6: go to the authors website and you should be able to contact them!
answers7: Google search their names, look in the back of one of their
books. They might have a website.
answers8: Many of them include such informatin either on the backcover
or in the info on publication, or other books they have written. you
can also google for their websites, or check their publisher's
websites..
answers9: they usually have an official website. <br>
and from there you can usually email them or snail mail. <br>
(example: www.stepheniemeyer.com or <a
href="http://www.mariavsnyder.com/)"
rel="nofollow"class=Clr-b>http://www.mariavsnyder.com/)</a>
answers10: One way would be through his publisher. another would be to
see if he has a website, and contact that way. google or yahoo or msn
search the author, and maybe some of the sites listing interviews can
also give you a way to contact him.

what books?

answers1: 1. Give Your Child a Superior Mind by Siegfried Engelmann <br>
2. Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons by P. Haddox and E. Bruner <br>
Try these books , I bought them online. I used it with my Preschool
now 3rd grade and I really appreciate the results.
answers2: Any number or letter books are good as long as you are
spending time with her. Try Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. Also the
"Letter Factory" DVD is awesome for toddlers. My son knew all of his
letters and sounds at two and a half with Letter Factory. <br>
<br>
Kids also like easy shape puzzles with their numbers.
answers3: Try using everyday things that are around you. Read food
boxes, look for letters in the newspaper or magazines, point out
numbers/letters when you see them at the store etc. Or you could make
a number/ letter book with your child. Buy an inexpensive mini photo
album. Have your child find letters and matching pictures (ex. A -
apple picture) in old magazines etc., cut them out & glue them to
index cards... one per card. Slip the cards into the photo book and
ta-da! you've made your own ABC book! Create number pages the same way
using cut out numbers and your child's thumbprints or simple dots.
Keep in mind the age and attention span of your child. Most
preschoolers aren't going to make it through the entire alphabet in
one night. So make a few pages at a time.
answers4: i like the phonics books, k
answers5: Read LOTS of picture books. Any books that you can sing or
come w/ tapes/CD's borrow at the library to try before purchasing. I
had an alphabet chart on my daughter's wall and we would say the
alphabet every night. Sometimes I would ask her to find the animal
that matched the letter or vise versa...For numbers we would count
going up or down stairs. If there were alot of steps i would count to
3 or 5 and then startover, when she could count to 5 with me - i
counted higher. We counted mailboxes, large rocks anything in a row
when we went out for walks, make everything FUN and remember Rome
wasn't built in a day!

answers3: Have you read Jinx by Meg Cabot or Practical Magic by Alice
Hoffman? <br>
<br>
Also, try Justine Larbalestier -- Magic or Madness series.
answers4: If you like reading non-fiction, about what goes on nowadays
- I recommend these two - <br>
<br>
1) "Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader" <br>
written by Bradley K. Martin <br>
<br>
2) "Rogue Regime" <br>
written by Jasper Becker <br>
<br>
These two well-written books give an insight about the North Korean
Government. <br>
<br>
Fiction? <br>
<br>
Try all the books written by Clive Cussler. <br>
<br>
The hero is Dirk Pitt, with his sidekick Al Giordino. These are well-written.
answers5: If you like vampire/supernatural books you really should
pick up the Anita Blake series by Laurel K Hamilton. <br>
<br>
The main character hunts vampires, but is also a necromancer and there
is a lot of supernatural demons/wereanimals/vampire and all that. The
main character is great and the plot really moves along (until the 7th
or 8th book and then it kinda falls flat) but until that they are
great. <br>
<br>
The first book in the series is called Guilty Pleasures.
answers6: Clive Cussler writes a series (Dirk Pitt) that may interest you. <br>
<br>

<br>
Anne Rice - Mayfair Witches series <br>
<br>
Search for gris gris or Marie Leveaux in the library, interesting stuff there.
answers7: OK, let's try this...if you like Vampire books, you might
like fantasy? If you like fantasy, you need to read the Bartimaeus
trilogy by Jonathon Stroud. Or, if you like Vampire books, you might
like to get scared. Then you need to read, "The Takers." And, I don't
care what anyone says, if you haven't read the Harry Potter series, do
that now. It's not just a children's book. BTW, what is that picture
in your ID?
answers8: Try Wicked by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguie. It has Wiccan
stuff, and there's also a sequel called Wicked 2. <br>
<br>
Also try anything by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. She writes mainly about
vampires, and she has a fantasy series having to do with
shape-shifters (though in my opinion the best books out of that series
are the first two -Hawksong and Snakecharm. The other books have
nothing to do with the original characters). <br>
<br>
You might also like A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. There's
a sequel called Rebel Angels, as well. <br>
<br>
Good luck on quest for new books! I hope I've helped.
answers9: The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan, my boyfriend got me to
read this book. Not as good as Twilight but I'm really into the
romances (which aren't in this one.) It's really funny and about this
kid who needs to go on an adventure searching for Zeus' master
lightening bolt and stuff. It's based around Greek mythology but set
in the present day. <br>
<br>
Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow by Orson Scott Card. Ender's Game was
my favorite book before I found Twilight. It's about this kid Ender
who is really strong and really smart. They've been waiting for
somebody like him to become the head honcho and lead in a war against
the buggers, an "alien" species from outer space that earth has been
at war with. Again, I suck at summarizing but my brother got me to
read this book and I loved it. I mean the kid got sent to training
school when he was 6 YEARS OLD!!!!! Ender's Shadow is a parallex book
to Ender's Game, seen from Bean's eyes. Both books are hilarious with
a little rude language, but that's forgivable. If you want a little
insight on the book, I found this on youtube a while ago, <a

<br>
<br>
A few others are Firegirl by Tony Abbott <br>
All-American Girl (and Ready Or Not, the sequel) by Meg Cabot about a
girl who's an outcast in her school then saves the president's life.
She's in love with her sister's boyfriend and has a genius for a
little sister. It's amazingly good, really. <br>
Uglies by Scott Westerfield <br>
Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber <br>
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead <br>
(The last two since you like Vampires and all) <br>
ttyl by Lauren Myracle <br>
Down A Dark Hall by Lois Duncan (read this over the summer, really good)
answers10: Why don't you try European literature?? Someone really
great like Gustave Flaubert or Emile Zola... both of which are 19th
century french writers.
